Calming Khao Lak

We arrived in Khao Lak from Bangkok late Tuesday night. Khao Lak is situated about 70mins north of Phuket airport. The Le Meriden is absolutely breathtaking and extremely accommodating...we were quite surprised by how big and international the resort is. I had no idea how popular this area of Thailand is with the Germans (menus are in both English and German). We've been taking advantage of the beautiful beach and enjoying the wonderful thai massages offered at a little hut down the beach from our resort (10USD buys an hour thai massage . We ventured out to the Similan Islands ( a cluster of about 8 islands about two hours off the coast of Khao Lak). Mike was able to scuba dive and I enjoyed some snorkeling. We also saw a HUGE turtle that came over to our boat to munch on some banana. It was the highlight of my Similan adventure. We are leaving Khao Lak tomorrow and venturing to Phi Phi island (where the movie the Beach was shot) and Krabi.
